The latest on real estate recordings and new technology from the Middlesex North Registry of Deeds in Lowell
There are a few unconnected about the website to report:
The February sales and foreclosure reports were posted today. Most of you have seen the new (in 2007) drop down selection format for these reports. One thing that might need an explanation, however, is the link for 2007. That includes sales from the past month and all prior months in the year in a consolidated report. So if you choose the Lowell 2007 line right now, you’ll get a report that includes sales from January and February 2007. Each town still has a “last month” choice which, to continue with our example, would contain Lowell sales from February.
The “Real Estate Professionals” link has been very popular with —- real estate professionals. So popular, in fact, that we get more and more requests to be added to it which has made it difficult to keep up. Because we’ve fallen so far behind in updating it, I decided to disable that link for now until I decide how to handle it in the future. Sorry if anyone’s inconvenienced by that.
Next week I’ll be joining the other registers who are members of the ACS Computer Users Group for our bimonthly meeting. While this month’s main topic will be GIS systems, we will ratify decisions we made back in January about the appearance of the “search land records” portion of our website. Specifically, we will be adding a two tiered system with Basic and Advanced Modes of searching. Advanced will be pretty much what’s there now while basic will just have the bare minimum of fields such as Name, Address or Book and Page. Another big change will be with the display of results of name searches. We’ve asked that all names that meet the search criteria be displayed on the same screen and not in groups showing one variation of the name with the number of times that variation appears. If you know what I’m talking about, you’ll be pleased with this news.
