The latest on real estate recordings and new technology from the Middlesex North Registry of Deeds in Lowell
There are a number of exciting things going on at the registry, so I’ll give them to you in bullet points (wait, I just remembered, I don’t know how to make bullets so I’ll use asterisks)…
*The equipment for our new WiFi (wireless Internet) system arrived this morning. I spoke to the installer, LanTel Technologies and the system should be up and running by the end of August. Antennas will be located on the wall outside of the Copy Area and the wall near the Security Desk. This will allow laptop connections from the lower Research Room, the upper Recording Hall and the hall adjacent to Customer Service.
*This morning we posted a notice informing the registry users that as of August 20, 2007 ALL documents will be immediately scanned and returned.
*Now that all documents are going to be immediately scanned and returned we want to improve image verification. To do this we set up a separate computer station beside the recording counter that will be manned by an employee whose only job is to check images before they are returned.
*We have confirmed that our computer company (ACS) will be in on Friday, August 3 to install our three new scanners and cashiering workstations. When this work is completed the recording counter wil be equipped with six cashiering terminals and four scanners. We estimate each terminal can process at least one hundred documents a day. This easily gives us the capablilty to record and scan 600 documents daily. If business soars again we’ll simply add more equipment to handle the increase.
There is much more happening, but I’ll save it for another post.
