Third Time’s A Charm

Here is a final (I hope) update on the Kodak Archive Writer. First a little back ground…the Archive Writer converts electronic images and burns them onto microfilm. Once it is up and running correctly the Writer will save the registry both time and money. Essentially, it will completely eliminate the “paper making step” we currently use to make microfilm. This means less toner and paper to purchase, saving money. The first roll of film we created came back from the developer missing about 10% of the images. The problem was simple…at my direction we apparently put too many images on the roll (that’s the Ebeneze Scrooge in me). The second roll was much better…but, this time the images were captured in a horizontal rather than vertical position…this is both good and bad. The good part is the images are large and easy to read, the bad part is 30% less images fit on the film when stored vertically rather than horizontally (there’s the Scrooge in me again)… We are currently working on roll three…This time I asked our MIS Director to rotate the images to vertical and reduce the number of books on a roll from 14 to 12. Cross your fingers….I think we’ve finally got it.
